Today we celebrate 63rd Independence Day and this year it is under the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose government was sworn in May 29th, 2023.

Back in Nigeria, we would have been part of an event, march past, party or dressing up in green and white clothes. Some of us would have had the flag on our cars, our children would probably had to dress up in one of our many cultural attires for school on Friday. Some would even go all out and sew family uniform ‘asoebi’ for independence day. Our diversity is one of our strengths and it is beautiful.

Life might be different here and we may not be as excited as we would have been back home but we are still Nigerians. So Happy Independence Day
