Yam in Pepper soup
Yam can be cooked along with meat or fish to form a special type of soup. It is a very simple recipe and perfect if looking for a meal without oil. Preferable with catfish, chicken or goatmeat
Ingredients
- 1kg of Yam, cut into sizeable cubes
- 1kg of Meat, Assorted meat or Fish
- Pepper, as desired
- 1 medium-sized onion bulb
- 1 seasoning cubes
- 1 tbsp of Pepper soup spice (optional)
- Salt to taste
- Water, just enough the cover the chopped yams in the pot
- Scent leaf (optional)
Directions
- Season the meat or fish and let it marinade for about about 2 hours before cooking
- If you are using meat, boil the seasoned meat until it is almost cooked before adding the washed yam cubes
- If you are using fish, boil the seasoned fish and the yam at the same time
- Add the pepper, onions, seasoning cubes and salt
- Allow to cook for about 20 minutes
- Add the scent leaf and allow to cook for another 5 minutes
- Taste for salt, remove from heat and serve
