Pancakes
Perfect for breakfast, pancakes are fried in pans and are just delicious. It is enjoyed better with maple syrup, jam, marmalade, ice cream or honey. Some people prefer it with lettuce and cabbage as a filling with mayonnaise. It is celebrated on Shrove Tuesday (A day before Ash Wednesday) and is enjoyed by both children and adults.
Ingredients
- 3 cups of Fresh Milk
- 2 Eggs
- 3 1/2 Cups Flour
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking powder
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- A pinch of Salt – Nutmeg
- 1 tsp Vanilla flavour (optional)
- Dried Fruits or Raisins (optional)
- Little Oil for frying
Directions
- Whisk egg till light and fluffy
- Mix the milk, the sugar and salt
- Add the whisked egg
- Add flour, nutmeg and baking powder
- Add the vanilla and whisk a bit more
- Add the fruits if necessary
- Wet the base of the frying pan with oil using a brush or drop some oil into the pan using a teaspoon
- Pour in the pancake mix gently into the pan, enough to spread around the bottom of the non-stick pan
- Allow to fry until the edges turn golden brown
- Use a non stick spatula to flip to the other side
- Remove from the pan when both sides are ready and place in your plate
- Serve as desired
